We have a nice start to the day across KELOLAND, but clouds and showers will develop in south central SD. Highs will be near 80 in Sioux Falls, but much warmer in Rapid City.
You can see the rain development on FutureScan in the south. We think the rain will exit eastern KELOLAND overnight, with hotter weather likely tomorrow. An interesting scenario develops tomorrow night as storms may fire in the far west and northwest.
First, lows tonight will be mild in the 60s.
Much hotter weather is expected tomorrow with many areas in the 90s ahead of the cold front.
Severe weather is possible late tomorrow night in far northern KELOLAND. These storms could become severe quickly by late evening and overnight, so stay tuned for more details.
The front will slowly sag south and stall on Friday into the weekend. Sioux Falls will be much warmer than places north and west.
We can't rule out a few isolated storms along the front, but the cap looks strong initially on Friday.
Rain is more likely early next week as we break down the heat. 70s will be common by late Monday into Tuesday.
